When I made this piece on the wheel I was thinking of a beautiful serving dish for salad or gorgeous food like figs.

Thrown by hand on the wheel, these wide base pieces are hard to achieve in porcelain because of the size of the base, so I was thrilled with how beautiful it looked when I opened the kiln. Glazed inside in Water Blue from the Watercolour Collection and left unglazed outside, giving it that wonderful contrast of both colour and texture.

This would make a wonderful gift for a keen chef this Christmas.
